DVAS Model2: Balanced headphone power amplifier unveiled

DVAS Model2

The Japanese company DVAS has presented a very unusual component – a power amplifier … for headphones! The company believes that personal audio deserves a component approach when building an audio system, so a separate power amplifier has a right to exist. This is how the fully analog Model 2 amplifier was born , made in a balanced concept.

Traditionally for DVAS, only the highest quality components are used in the Model2 design and surface mounting is used. The amplifier circuit is balanced, differential, without the use of negative feedback. The amplifier develops up to 3.5 watts in each channel when operating on a load with a nominal resistance of 32 ohms.

The DVAS Model2 power supply uses a total of five transformers, including a 260VA toroidal power transformer, as well as a separate transformer for the control system. Signal losses are reduced by using Teflon-coated pure silver solid cores in the signal circuits. Three high-quality Teflon-insulated XLR connectors with a molded housing are provided for connecting headphones.

The dimensions of the DVAS Model2 amplifier are 430 x 112 x 330 mm (W x H x D). Weight – 17 kg. The amp is made only under the order. The company will start accepting orders from September 1st. The recommended retail price of the DVAS Model 2 amplifier in Japan is 990 thousand yen , which at the current exchange rate approximately corresponds to $7000.
