Huawei unveils FreeClip open-back TWS headphones

The headphones do not fit into the ear canal or even press against it. Fits behind the ear and does not put pressure during prolonged use.

Huawei has announced FreeClip wireless headphones with a unique open-back design. The device has a three-part design: the Acoustic Ball (speaker) is located in the outer ear and is not inserted into the ear canal, the Comfort Bean (battery) is attached behind the ear, and the C-bridge connects them using a curved clip. The headphones look like clip-on earrings.

FreeClip headphones are part of Huawei’s Fashion Forward line of wearable devices. The company says this unusual solution is a response to the growing number of users who want wireless in-ear headphones that allow them to stay in the know. Comfort Bean has an ergonomic shape that follows the curves of the human ear; when creating the Acoustic Ball, the actual shape of the auricle was taken into account in order to achieve the optimal size and not cause discomfort. The C-bridge incorporates an adaptive sensor that adjusts the clamping force of the attachment mechanism, reducing stress on the ear cartilage. It is noteworthy that this design of headphones is more comfortable during long-term use and does not interfere with wearing glasses.

Huawei says the FreeClip is the industry’s first open-back headphones that are designed exclusively for your left and right ears. Special sensors are responsible for this. Because they are not pressed tightly against the ear or inserted into the ear hole, the user can hear external sounds. This usually results in lower sound quality, but Huawei says it has included this option. The company has developed a high-sensitivity dual magnetic moving coil unit that adds power to the speakers, and a reverse wave system that performs a sort of noise-canceling function.

Huawei FreeClips looks great on this model. I wonder if they will look as good on me 🙂

In terms of specifications, the FreeClips are IP54 splash-resistant, can last up to 32 hours, and charge in 40 minutes. The headphones will go on sale in Europe at the end of December at a price of 200 euros.
