DALI has unveiled the IO-12 Bluetooth headphones, which it says is the world’s first Soft Magnetic Compound (SMC) headphone. And it’s hard to disagree with this, since SMC is DALI’s proprietary patented technology to minimize hysteresis in speaker magnetic systems.
Thanks to this, the DALI IO-12 headphones, equipped with proprietary 50 mm paper fiber cones, drastically reduce non-linear harmonic distortion. According to DALI, “By applying SMC to the IO-12, we essentially achieved an electrostatic level of midrange purity.”
In addition to wireless Bluetooth with aptX Adaptive, the IO-12 is capable of receiving analog signal (3.5mm mini-jack cable included) and digital signal via the included USB-C cable in quality up to 24bit/96kHz (the same cable is used). and for charging). The result is a commendable “omnivore” that allows you to use the headphones with smartphones, digital audio players, PCs, game consoles, etc.
The system of controls on one of the cups worked out on the first two models of DALI IO-4 and IO-6 headphones gives access to almost all the functions of the novelty. The active noise cancellation (ANC) system is positioned as one of the positives. The manufacturer especially notes the high intelligibility during telephone communications, due to “high-quality built-in microphones.”
The battery will provide DALI IO-12 with 35 hours of sound, for which only 2 profiles are provided in the headphones – Hi-Fi and Bass. The mechanics of the headphones allows you to fold them in several ways. The soft parts of the headband and large square ear cushions are decorated with genuine leather. In addition to cables and a 3.5 – 6.35 mm adapter, the headphones come with a travel case. All of this will go on sale in August.
In Europe, the DALI IO-12 wireless noise canceling headphones will cost 1,000 euros.
