Google has officially brought back Androidify, the playful app that lets users design their own Android mascot. First teased at I/O 2025, the refreshed version is now available on both the Play Store and androidify.com, coinciding with the rollout of Android 16 QPR1 and the September Pixel Drop.
The original Androidify app was discontinued in 2020, with a barebones version briefly appearing in 2024. This new edition takes things much further, thanks to Google’s latest AI tools.
Turn Yourself into an Android Bot
With the new Androidify, you can snap a selfie and instantly transform it into a personalized Android bot. Google’s Gemini 2.5 Flash model generates a caption of the image, while a fine-tuned version of Imagen 3 creates the mascot itself. The result blends realism with a “playful, stylized aesthetic” that feels true to Androidify’s roots.
If you’d rather not use a photo, you can also start with a text prompt and add accessories of your choice.
Formats, Styles, and Animations
Once your Android bot is created, you can export it in multiple formats — from square profile pictures to widescreen wallpapers, banners, and stickers. Backgrounds include fun themes like Masterchef, Jetsetter, and Gamer.
Starting this month, Androidify will also roll out the ability to animate your bot into an 8-second video using Google’s Veo 3 generative video model, available on Fridays.
More Than Just Fun: A Developer Showcase
Beyond being a creative playground, Androidify doubles as a demo for developers. The app highlights Material 3 Expressive components, showing off new shapes, motion designs, and custom animations. It also integrates ML Kit Pose Detection for real-time camera input, with a special tabletop mode for foldables.
Androidify is now live on the Play Store and at androidify.com.
