What would happen if you combined Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck and ROG Ally, improving both devices on all fronts? This question was asked by engineers from Lenovo. The result is Legion Go. Today, the device, introduced two months ago , has an official start of sales, which was an excellent occasion to talk about this interesting thing again.
Basically, it’s portable PC gaming. It is built around an 8.8-inch touchscreen display with QHD+ resolution and a frequency of up to 144 Hz in performance mode. And here the sticks are disconnected in a similar way to the Switch. And one of them has a touch pad, just like the Steam Deck.
This thing works on Windows 11, so almost all games should work.
The console received two versions: one runs on AMD Ryzen Z1, and the other runs on Z1 Extreme. RAM type LPDDR5X with a frequency of 7500 MHz, peremptory 16 GB. The buyer is offered a choice of four volumes of built-in storage – 256 or 512 GB, as well as 1 or 2 TB. Few? Then you can use microSD up to 2 TB.
Judging by the review, the battery with a capacity of 49.2 Wh does not last very long. Minimum load – and in an hour and a half it drops from 54 to 19%. But here’s the advantage of detachable sticks: they can be used separately while the central part of the Legion Go is charging. Also, don’t forget about the weight – 810 grams! It’s heavier than ROG Ally, Steam Deck and Switch!
Sales started today. In the US, Lenovo Legion Go costs from $699 for the Z1 version and from $750 for the Z1 Extreme.
