Now you can stream games from PS5 to Android TV

The latest PlayStation 5 firmware update has arrived, bringing new access and enhanced audio features, including access to 3D Audio on compatible Dolby Atmos-enabled devices, as well as additional multiplayer connectivity and support for high-capacity SSD storage (up to 8 TB). ).

But the most interesting innovation is support for PS Remote Play on Android devices, including 4K Google Chromecast. Remote Play technology allows you to stream games from your PS5 (or PS4) console to compatible devices over the Internet or your home network. Let’s say you’re playing in the living room, but you need to move to the kitchen to keep an eye on something cooking in the oven that’s about to burn. Simply stream to a compatible device, such as a smartphone or iPad, and you can continue playing elsewhere.

The ability to remotely stream games is expanding with the new firmware, now adding devices running Android and supporting Chromecast to the list of compatible devices. The PS Remote Play app will be available on devices running Android TV OS 12 and Google Chromecast with Google TV. PS Remote Play will also be supported by Sony’s flagship QD-OLED TV, the A95L.

With the PlayStation Portal portable bundle coming later this year, it’s clear that Sony is committed to making as many devices and displays compatible with the expanding PlayStation ecosystem as possible.
