Apple has released tvOS 18

Apple has released a new update for its Apple TV smart televisions. The tvOS 18 update brings new smart features, including InSight, which displays useful information about the actors, characters and music in every live movie and series on Apple TV+ in real time.

tvOS 18 will offer useful features

tvOS 18 improves the Dialog feature with advanced machine learning and audio processing, resulting in clearer conversations. The system automatically activates subtitles at key moments, such as when the user mutes the sound, skips back in content or watches foreign language programs. Apple TV 4K now offers Portraits – eye-catching screensavers that appear during idle time.

Update for phones – iOS 18 – expands the Home app with the possibility of access for guests. Smart home owners can allow guests to control locks, garage doors and security systems on a one-time basis or on a set schedule. The app also records guest activity history. In addition, it cooperates with important energy providers, such as the California company Pacific Gas & Electric Company. This collaboration makes it easier for users to access energy consumption information and help them make informed decisions.

Apple also mentions the following news:

  • Music played from HomePods and HomePod mini via SharePlay and Apple Music can now also be controlled by guests.
  • AirPlay adds surround sound , offering an immersive listening experience for audio sent from an iPhone or iPad to HomePods and compatible third-party speakers.
  • Also new are Live Captions for FaceTime and Camera via Continuity, which for users in the US and Canada show a transcript of a FaceTime call in English right on the TV screen.
  • Apple Fitness+ gets a new look in tvOS 18 with personalized exercise and meditation recommendations, a powerful Search function, and improved rewards for more motivation.
  • The tvOS 18 update will be available later this year and will bring support for the 21:9 aspect ratio for showing movies and series using projectors and a new screensaver with things like Snoopy. In addition, robotic vacuum cleaners , which can be newly automated and used in various scenes, will also be compatible with the Home application.
