GOOGLE DRIVE WILL STOP WORKING ON WINDOWS 8 AND 8.1 AND ALL 32-BIT WINDOWS

Users have more and more reasons to upgrade their Windows operating system if they still have Windows 8 or 8.1 installed. Microsoft has already stopped supporting these versions of the system, now software developers are gradually phasing it out. In February of this year, Google stopped supporting the Chrome browser for Windows 8 and 8.1, and now it’s the turn of the Google Drive cloud client.

Not only Microsoft, but the developers themselves are forcing users to switch to new versions of Windows

A warning appeared on the Google support page that in August 2023, the Google Drive desktop app will no longer work on computers running Windows 8/8.1, Windows Server 2012, and all 32-bit versions of Windows. To avoid problems accessing your files stored in the cloud, the company recommends upgrading to Windows 10 or later. Windows 32-bit users will still be able to access Drive, but only through a browser.

The Google Drive desktop app is needed to sync folders and files with the cloud, so if you need to, consider updating your operating system. Access through a browser allows you to manually manage all the files in the cloud, while automatic synchronization with a computer does not work.
