At the end of April, Opera introduced its new One browser, without much revealing its features. Now the web browser has become available for download, and the developers have named all its innovations. The browser received design innovations as well, but its key feature, apparently, was “the browser’s first ever native artificial intelligence” – Aria.
Aria is free, based on GPT and takes into account the most up-to-date information from the Internet – it is reported that this AI was created in collaboration with OpenAI (the developers of ChatGPT). Rather, the innovation runs on its own Composer engine, but connects to GPT and receives real-time results from the Internet. Thus, Aria allows you to search for information on the Web, generate text and code, and also get answers to questions about specific products.
It does have some unique features, including built-in AI and tab islands.
Interaction with Aria is done through a new command line (called by pressing Ctrl+ or CMD+). However, the new AI can not be used at all. Whatever it was, as a token of appreciation, the developers of Opera built ChatGPT into the sidebar of the browser.
Another major update is Tab Islands. In fact, this is a “context-based” grouping of tabs – the browser analyzes open sites and, if they belong to the same context (for example, office services like Google Docs and vacation planning sites), then groups them. Formed tab islands can be flexibly interacted with: moved, collapsed (making the tabs small) and saved as bookmarks.
The developers are also proud of the modular design of Opera One – the system analyzes the user’s needs in order to bring the most frequently used functions to the fore.
Opera One is based on Chromium, and the developers boast that they are the first to significantly change the design of the browser based on this engine, which allows it to “stand out in the crowd of Chromium competitors.”
The application is already available for download on Windows, macOS and Linux.
