Vivo X Fold: impressive first folding mobile from Vivo

Vivo X Fold
Vivo X Fold

The renowned manufacturer vivo has jumped on the bandwagon of folding phones with its latest revelation: the vivo X Fold , an impressive flagship with an 8-inch main screen and a 6.53-inch external screen, both with AMOLED technology. It should be noted that this is not the only relevant thing about the device, and to realize this, it is enough to take a quick look at its specifications, and that is exactly what we will do this time.

Vivo X Fold, impressive on the outside and inside

An 8.03-inch folding internal screen with AMOLED LTPO2 technology and a resolution of 1,800 x 2,200 pixels is the main attraction of the vivo x Fold, but we would be lying if we said that it is the only interesting thing. The aircraft-grade hinge alone that allows the screen to open at angles between 60 to 120 degrees is worthy of an engineering award.

More to the case, the folding screen uses SCHOTT UTG, that is, ultra-thin glass. In addition, the manufacturer claims that it has a life expectancy of 300,000 folds.

On the other hand, the external screen has a diagonal of 6.53 inches and exhibits a resolution of 2,520 x 1,080 pixels.

Be that as it may, both screens use AMOLED panels with a variable refresh rate of 120Hz , have the benefit of HDR10 + and have ultrasonic fingerprint scanners.

In addition to its impressive presentation, the vivo X Fold bases its bet on top-of-the-range hardware made up of Qualcomm’s flagship chip, the Snapdragon Gen 1 , which comes in the company of 12GB of RAM and 256/512GB of internal storage. The battery is a bit lackluster at 4,600mAh , but more than makes up for it with 66W fast charging (100% in 37 minutes), not to mention 50W wireless charging.

The cameras are premium level, there ‘s a 50MP f/1.8 main sensor with OIS vs. a 1/1.57-inch Samsung GN5 sensor, a 12MP f/2.4 2x (47mm) zoom camera, a periscope zoom lens 5x (with 60x digital zoom) and a 48MP f/2.2 wide angle with a 114-degree view. The Zeiss branding on the camera module indicates a collaboration that is serious.

Lastly, there is a front camera on each screen, but we still don’t know the resolutions.

Availability and price

We have no information pointing to an international release at the moment. The only thing we know for sure is the price it will have in China once it goes on sale, which will be 8,999 yuan in the base version of 12 + 256GB, about 1,298 euros to change . Meanwhile, the 12 + 512GB version will be sold for 9,999 yuan, which is approximately 1,442 euros.
