Samsung Galaxy M42 5G: First mid-range smartphone with support for fifth generation networks

On Wednesday, April 28, South Korean company Samsung announced the Galaxy M42 5G smartphone. This is the first member of the Samsung Galaxy M family to support fifth generation cellular networks.

In addition to 5G, the new model boasts a large battery with fast charging, a quad camera with a 48 megapixel main sensor and a widescreen AMOLED display with a built-in fingerprint scanner. The smartphone is housed in a case with a back panel made of glass-like polycarbonate plastic with a multi-layer pattern.

  • SoC: Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G, 8nm process technology, two Kryo 570 cores @ 2.2 GHz, six Kryo 570 cores @ 1.8 GHz, Adreno 619 graphics accelerator.
  • RAM: 6 or 8 GB.
  • Internal memory: 128 GB, support for microSD memory cards (hybrid slot, instead of a second SIM card).
  • Operating system: Android 11 with OneUI 3.1 shell and pre-installed Samsung Pay and Knox applications.
  • Front camera: 20 MP (f / 2.2, wide-angle lens), HDR.
  • Main camera: 48 MP (f / 1.8, wide-angle lens, phase detection autofocus) + 8 MP (f / 2.2, ultra-wide-angle lens with 123-degree viewing angle) + 5 MP (f / 2.4, macro lens) + 5 MP (f / 2.4, depth sensor), LED flash, HDR, panorama.
  • Battery: 5000mAh, 15W fast charging.
  • Ports: USB Type-C and 3.5mm audio jack for headphone connection.

The first country to start selling Samsung Galaxy M42 5G will be India. There, the smartphone will be available for purchase from Samsung and Amazon India online stores starting May 1.

The price of the issue is Rs 21,999 (about $ 295) for the base version with 6/128 GB of memory and 23,999 rupees (about $ 322) for the top model with 8/128 GB of memory.
