Xiaomi has introduced new TVs for the European market. These are Q2 4K QLED TVs. In addition to HDR10, Xiaomi TV Q2 Series is also equipped with Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision IQ standards . The TV is equipped with sensors that recognize ambient light and can adjust the picture accordingly.

Operating System – Android TV 10 with Google TV skin gives you direct access to Google Assistant and the Play Store to download apps. According to the manufacturer, the Q2 series also comes pre-installed with the Xiaomi TV+ app, which offers viewers more content options, from live TV to blockbusters. Are there any drawbacks to Q2 series TVs and should you buy them? In the Xiaomi Mi TV Q2 55″ 4K QLED review, we will try to answer these questions.

Xiaomi TV Q2 review

Design

The 55-inch Mi TV Q2, despite its relatively inexpensive price, has a great design and a very high-quality assembly. The highlight is that the body of this TV is made of metal. The TV has an impressive screen-to-body ratio thanks to very thin bezels on the top and sides.

The bottom bezel is much thicker. The bottom panel also has a microphone for voice commands in the far field. The Xiaomi Mi TV Q2 55″ TV case has a stand in the form of two Y-shaped legs. You can also mount the TV on the wall. To do this, you will need a 200 x 200 mm VESA wall mount, which is not included in the package.

Equipment

The Xiaomi TV Q2 55 smart TV is equipped with a quad-core ARM Cortex-A55 processor, as well as a Mali G52 MC1 GPU. The device has 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of disk space. The downside is the fact that these TVs are not designed for 120Hz gaming.

Smart TV uses Android 10 operating system. Smart TV supports hands-free voice commands through Google Assistant and Alexa, for which you will need to purchase an Echo smart speaker.

Image quality

In general, the image quality of the Xiaomi Mi TV Q2 TV can be called very good. However, in order to achieve the maximum from the panel, the content must also be of the appropriate quality. In this case, you can really get deep black levels and vivid realistic colors.

The Xiaomi TV Q2 offers Ultra-HD resolution (3840×2160 pixels) and 92% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space. Unfortunately, the refresh rate in all three models does not exceed 60 Hz. The model has many color settings so that you can choose the right image quality that matches the taste of the user.

Usually the best picture is obtained in Standard or Vivid mode (depending on the lighting in the room). If you don’t like the soap opera effect, you should disable the MEMC option or set it to the minimum position.

The 4K QLED panel delivers reasonably bright images and deep blacks in a well-lit room. Darker scenes in some classic films like Spider-Man or The Lord of the Rings show rich colors and good detail. Xiaomi also supports all major viewing formats – HDR10 and HLG.

Sound quality

The sound quality on the Mi TV Q2 55″ is far from ideal. And this despite the fact that the device is equipped with speakers with a total power of 30 watts. Even despite the support of Dolby Audio, the sound is not entirely expressive. Although the reproduced sound is clear, it lacks depth. As a result, it does not create a cinematic experience.

When watching blockbusters with multi-channel sound, you immediately feel the lack of a remote sound bar. However, there is one useful feature in audio playback. This is the maximum volume setting. The TV intelligently controls the sound spikes and keeps the sound uniform. In addition, the TV supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X .

Connections

The back panel of the TV is made of plastic. The quality of the plastic is decent and seems durable. The required connection ports are located on the left in the usual two-way L-shape. The TV Q2 55″ has three HDMI ports, one of which offers support for eARC and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM).

There are also two USB 2.0 ports, one 100Mbps Ethernet port, one optical port, and one 3.5mm headphone jack. There are also antenna inputs, a composite input (AV) and a C + slot for connecting pay channels. For wireless transmission, the 55-inch TV is equipped with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0.

Conclusion

If you look at the prices on the QLED Smart TV market, it is easy to see that competitors sell such TVs for much more than Xiaomi. Without a doubt, many competing models provide much better overall performance.

However, you should not forget about the price difference either. So now there is an option to compromise on picture and sound quality. The image reproduced by the Xiaomi Mi TV Q2 TV can easily compete with models in the same price category.

Sound performance could be a little better. However, this problem can be solved with a decent home audio system. The operating system Android TV 10 with a huge selection of applications leaves nothing to be desired.

Pros

  • Great image quality.
  • HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support.
  • Premium aesthetics.
  • The most necessary and latest connection standards.

Cons

  • Could perform better.
  • Sound quality could be better.
