Remote lock feature found on Samsung TVs

Samsung can remotely disable (effectively disable) its TVs. According to the company, this feature “is already preinstalled on all Samsung TVs.” For it to work, it is enough to connect the TV to the Internet, which happens sooner or later, because it is this connection that provides the lion’s share of all the attractive functions of SmartTV.

New opportunities came to light after the loss of a shipment of the company’s televisions during unrest from a warehouse in South Africa. It was then that Samsung published information about the TV Block functionality. The company noted that the feature will limit the incentive for third parties to steal or purchase stolen TVs.

If the blocking occurred by mistake, it is very easy to cancel it. The owner of such a TV set just needs to contact the seller (dealer) – preferably with documents confirming the purchase. The seller will transfer this verified data to Samsung, where the status quo will be restored within 48 hours.
