LG will release a giant 98-inch TV with very bright mini-LED backlighting

South Korean company LG is known for its line of OLED TVs, but it also continues to develop the direction associated with the production of mini-LED TVs, which are produced under the QNED brand. At CES 2024, which will be held early next month, the vendor will announce new QNED 2024 TVs, including a 98-inch model, and will also present an updated webOS platform, etc.

LG announces four new lines under the QNED brand: 8K miniLED QNED99T, 4K miniLED QNED90T, QNED85T LCD and QNED80T. The flagship QNED99T TVs are equipped with an LG Alpha 9 processor, which is capable of improving image and sound quality using artificial intelligence-based algorithms. The QNED90T and QNED85T models received an updated LG Alpha 8 processor, and the most affordable QNED80T TVs will be equipped with a cheaper LG Alpha 5 Gen 7 processor.

All models run on the LG webOS 24 operating system, which supports individual profiles, due to which the platform can provide personalized recommendations and recognize the voice of each user. The built-in Chromecast media player allows you to watch content from Android and iOS devices via Chromecast and AirPlay 2, respectively. Starting next year, LG will update the webOS platform on all new TVs for four years. Some of the earlier flagships, such as the 8K models released in 2022, will also receive updates during the announced time period.

In the QNED85T line, the manufacturer will release a 98-inch 4K TV with support for local dimming technology, but without mini-LED backlighting. This means that its price will most likely be more attractive than the cost of mini-LED models. LG will also offer models with diagonals of 50, 55, 65, 75 and 86 inches in this line.

The QNED99T line will feature two 8K models with a diagonal of 75 and 86 inches. Specifications and retail price of the new products have not been disclosed, but previous models at the time of launch cost about $4,800 and $6,500, respectively. Expect the flagship models to offer high brightness levels of up to 3,000 cd/m², support for Dolby Vision HDR, Dolby Atmos, and a refresh rate of 120 Hz or higher, making them attractive to gamers. The QNED90T line will be replenished with 4K models with mini-LED backlighting with diagonals of 65, 75 and 86 inches.

The most affordable models in the QNED80T line are attractive to buyers on a limited budget. The manufacturer will release models with diagonals of 43, 50, 55, 65, 75 and 86 inches. More detailed information about the characteristics of new LG products and their costs should be expected in early January.
