LG postpones launch of first 42-inch OLED TV to 2022

According to online reports, LG plans to postpone the release of its first 42-inch (107 cm) OLED TV to 2022. At the same time, it was previously announced that such a model will appear this year, along with another new 83-inch diagonal .

“Obviously LG wants to use the new small OLED screen to bolster next year’s TV lineup for marketing reasons,” said a source close to the industry.

Most likely, the smallest OLED lineup will be showcased at the upcoming CES 2022. It is expected to be positioned as a gaming TV with support for HDMI 2.1 and other gaming features.

Recall that the current range of LG OLED screens consists of six sizes – 48, 55, 65, 77, 83 and 88 inches. Almost all of them (except for the A series) are capable of playing a 4K / 120Hz signal in HDR10 and Dolby Vision, and also support HDMI 2.1 and the accompanying HDMI VRR, AMD FreeSync and Nvidia G-Sync functions.

In addition to the new 42-inch size, it was previously reported about plans to release even more compact 20-30-inch LG OLED TVs.
