2021 has been a bad year for 8K TVs
2021 has been a bad year for 8K TVs

Despite the seemingly obvious advantage of 8K technology , offering 4 times higher resolution than 4K , its progress is extremely slow. The most eloquent evidence of this is the depressing statistics of sales of 8K TVs . But since their appearance on the market in 2018, many analysts regularly predicted their victorious global march. However, reality shows that consumers are not yet convinced of the need to join the new technology.

Sales of 8K TVs, thousand units

According to data firm  Statista , 520,000 8K TVs were sold in 2021, representing only 0.23% of the total market of 213.5 million TVs. Among the main reasons for this situation are high prices and the lack of original content. However, analysts are convinced of the good outlook, with sales of 8K TVs expected to nearly triple this year thanks to increased production and increased competition.
