On Thursday, March 4th, Qualcomm unveiled Snapdragon Sound. The American chipmaker describes his new product as a chain of sound and software innovations to improve the sound quality in wireless headphones. Qualcomm’s main goal with Snapdragon Sound was to provide wired audio quality when using wireless headsets.
Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound is an audio system or simply a music processor for transferring music via Bluetooth, which, thanks to the use of the most modern technologies and developments, can provide sound quality at the Hi-Fi level. The new solution supports the aptX Adaptive codec, has low latency in games (up to 89 milliseconds) and allows the headphones to create two simultaneous Bluetooth connections. So far, only Jabra offers the latter function in its headphones. Another priority was the stability of the connection – the manufacturer promises minimal loss of quality and disruptions even in the busiest environment in terms of wireless signals.
Qualcomm claims that all Snapdragon Sound devices will be tested for compatibility in a dedicated Qualcomm Technologies Test Center. Experts will give them a thorough check on metrics such as sound quality, latency and connection reliability.
The first devices with Snapdragon Sound will hit the market in the coming months. The manufacturer named Xiaomi and Audio-Technica the first two partners. But if you consider that Qualcomm components can be found in headphones and mobile devices of many companies, including Bose, Jabra, 1More, Sennheiser, Anker, the Snapdragon Sound badge will soon appear on the boxes of many compatible gadgets, including smartphones.
