LG S60Q: The soundbar you can feel

LG S60Q
LG S60Q

Is it worth having a sound bar? This is one of the most common questions among consumers who want to improve the image and sound section of their home. And it is that it has as many detractors as followers. Although it is true that it is a VERY interesting team, which will give us a quality plus when it comes to watching our favorite movies or content, it is also true that we cannot always make the most of its possibilities. Do you have your living room completely soundproofed or do you live in a country house? Don’t even think twice, you’re going to be amazed by everything they can offer you. Conversely, do you live in a block of flats where the walls look like cigarette paper? So maybe the investment is not worth it if you don’t want your neighbors to be going up every hour asking you to turn down the volume… In any case, sound bar , today we are talking about the  LG S60Q , a model as interesting as it is economical for the qualities it offers.

We are going to discover everything about this equipment from LG , below. Grab a pencil and paper, take notes, let’s start.

Design of the LG S60Q

This  2.1 LG S60Q sound bar is made up of two elements: the bar itself and a subwoofer. The subwoofer measures  171 x 261 x 390 mm and weighs  5.3  kg , while the bar measures  760 x 90 x 63 mm  and weighs  4 kg .

As we see in the images, its design lines are very discreet and minimalist. They do not have any element that stands out, they are all straight lines with the controls and ports well integrated so that they do not stand out. Available in  black , they have a small keypad on the top and connection ports on the back.

We can use it by cable or wirelessly, as best suits you.

Dolby Atmos Virtual

If we go into analyzing its more purist technical specifications, more focused on the advantages that they can give us to improve the sound of our television, we can highlight that it has a power of  300 W. It is divided into 200 W for the subwoofer and 100 W for the bar. This will allow us to listen to the movies with a heart-stopping volume, but not only that is important. The sensitivity is  85 dB .

The high-quality surround and immersive effect is provided by  Dolby Atmos Virtual, Dolby True HD and Dolby Digital technology , so that we also feel that we are in the cinema with a spectacular 3D effect. In addition, so that you don’t get shocked and you don’t have to keep turning the volume up and down in each scene, it has  AI Sound Pro technology that helps us optimize the sound thanks to integrated AI.

On the other hand, so that it is relevant to each content with which we are working, it also has a  Gaming mode , in case we use it while we play, which adjusts the equalization so that the sound allows us to detect where the sound is coming from. enemy.

If you wish, you can mount it on the wall or use it on a surface, for example, on the TV cabinet. As best suits you. Of course, you should know that it does not incorporate FM Radio, or screen and is not compatible with Apple AirPlay 2 or Spotify Connect .

Finally, in terms of its energy consumption, we find a consumption of  50 W active and  0.5 W  if we leave it on standby.

Connectivity

A very important point in sound bars is their connectivity. As we already told you, we can use it by cable  (optical input and HDMI ARC ) or also wirelessly, through  Bluetooth 4.2 . It also has  USB direct playback .

You should bear in mind that it  does not have WiFi , which for some may be a disadvantage since, as we have mentioned, it does not have compatibility with Apple AirPlay 2 or Spotify Connect.

Conclusion

LG S60Q is a very good option if you are looking for an overwhelming value for money. It sounds great, with immersive, powerful and clear sound. Also, you can choose whether to mount it on the wall or use it on a surface.

It lacks connectivity options, such as WiFi, NFC or compatibility with Spotify Connect or Apple AirPlay 2, but in general it is quite well balanced and promises to keep up with us from day to day, whatever we need, whether we are going to watch an action movie, a sport or even playing video games for a while.

PROS:

  • System 2.1
  • With Virtual Surround for immersive sound
  • Bluetooth connectivity
  • Quality of materials and construction
  • Compatible with Dolby Digital and other very interesting technologies
  • It comes with a remote control included and a kit in case we want to mount it on the wall
