Canadian brand Kanto Audio has introduced compact active speakers ORA , which, according to the manufacturer, are ideal for music, games and even as monitors for a home studio. Measuring just 17.5 x 10 x 14.1 cm, the new Kanto ORA monitors are designed to fit on a desk, either under a monitor or on either side of a laptop. A number of optional stands are available for the new product, allowing you to place your monitors vertically or horizontally, as well as at the desired height and angle to suit your requirements.
Kanto ORA monitors are equipped with a 2 cm silk dome tweeter and a 7.5 cm midrange/woofer with a paper cone. The emitters are served by separate amplifiers operating in class D and providing power of 9 W and 16 W, respectively. According to Kanto Audio, the resulting 50W RMS power ensures “clear highs, detailed mids and impressively powerful bass.” At the same time, the manufacturer claims an operating frequency range from 70 Hz to 22 kHz.
Kanto ORA active monitors are equipped with a Bluetooth 5.0 adapter for convenient wireless connectivity. There’s also an analog RCA line-in and USB-C port for connecting your PC, mobile phone (now even the iPhone 15!), portable players and more, and supports high-resolution playback up to 24-bit/96kHz . There is also an output for an active subwoofer.
The selected input is indicated by a colored LED – green for line-level analog input, yellow for USB-C and blue, as you might guess, for Bluetooth. The volume can be adjusted using a knob on the front panel of one of the speakers.
Kanto Audio ORA desktop active monitors are now on sale at a recommended retail price of €299 . The speakers come with a free 60-day trial of the high-definition music streaming service Qobuz. Additionally, you can purchase optional monitor stands for Kanto Audio S2 (30 euros), SE2 (38 euros) and S9 (76 euros).
