It features four distinct models: Classic Gold VIII SP, Classic Gold X SP, Classic Gold XII SP, and Classic Gold XV SP.
The Vintage Classic Gold SP series of speakers from Fyne Audio captures a retro aesthetic, celebrating the pinnacle of Hi-Fi from the early 1970s. The company acknowledges that its engineers and designers took cues from the iconic speakers of that era, while also ensuring that the designs meet modern standards and expectations.
The designation “SP” in the new lineup refers to Special Production, and the Fyne Audio Vintage Classic Gold SP Series aims to connect the sophisticated vintage charm of the Fyne Audio Classic Series with the advanced performance characteristics of the flagship Fyne Audio Vintage Series.
Manufactured in Scotland at the Fyne Audio facility in Glasgow, the Fyne Audio Vintage Classic Gold SP series speakers feature cabinets constructed from high-density birch plywood. This material ensures structural integrity and allows the speakers to reach their full acoustic potential. The cabinets are elegantly finished with natural walnut veneer, complemented by dark glazed accents and brass details, which together evoke a distinctive vintage aesthetic.
The Fyne Audio Vintage Classic Gold SP series speakers feature the renowned Fyne Audio IsoFlare coaxial drivers, now enhanced with a tweeter that incorporates a neodymium magnet system. Additionally, these new models are equipped with the BassTrax Tractrix system, engineered to ensure 360-degree bass dispersion, thereby establishing a robust low-frequency foundation.
Significant emphasis was placed on the crossover design during development, which was meticulously calibrated to deliver outstanding sound accuracy and clarity. The crossover circuit is constructed using only premium audiophile-grade components, including polypropylene capacitors, low-loss laminated iron core coils, and precision resistors.
Fyne Audio Vintage Classic Gold VIII SP is a two-way bass reflex speaker system that boasts impressive dimensions of 873 x 380 x 300 mm, making it the smallest model in its series. It features a coaxial IsoFlare driver with a paper-fiber cone for the LF/MF, measuring 200 mm in diameter, alongside a 25-mm compression tweeter that utilizes a magnesium dome and ferrite magnetic system. This model operates within a frequency range of 30 Hz to 34 kHz, with a crossover frequency of 1.8 kHz. The speaker system has a nominal impedance of 8 Ohms and a sensitivity rating of 91 dB, with a recommended amplifier power ranging from 30 to 200 W.
Following this model is the Fyne Audio Vintage Classic Gold X SP. It offers an operating frequency range of 28 Hz to 26 kHz, with a crossover point set at 750 Hz. Its frequency response spans from 23 Hz to 26 kHz, maintaining the same crossover frequency of 750 Hz and nominal impedance of 8 Ohms. However, this top-tier model offers an increased sensitivity of 97 dB and is recommended for use with amplifiers delivering between 20 and 400 watts.
The Fyne Audio Vintage Classic Gold SP series speakers are now on the market. The suggested retail price for the Fyne Audio Classic Gold VIII SP is set at $8,999, whereas the Fyne Audio Classic Gold X SP is priced at $11,999.
