This 65-Kg Aluminium Beast Is Bang & Olufsen’s Most Stunning Speaker Ever

Bang & Olufsen has announced the new Beolab 90 Titan Edition, a powerful reinterpretation of its beloved loudspeaker to celebrate the brand’s centenary. The launch of the Beolab 90 Titan Edition comes ten years after the debut of this remarkable floorstanding loudspeaker. Designed by the exclusive Bang & Olufsen Atelier, the Titan Edition represents a new pinnacle of bespoke artistry, honoring its legendary legacy and shaping the future of high-end audio design.

Bang & Olufsen Beolab 90 Titan Edition

“For 100 years, innovation and design have been at the heart of Bang & Olufsen. The Beolab 90 Titan Edition pays tribute to our iconic and beloved loudspeaker, a product central to our acoustic philosophy. But this edition doesn’t just celebrate our heritage; it also demonstrates a level of craftsmanship and customization that only Bang & Olufsen can deliver. It’s a powerful statement of what’s possible when creativity, technology, and vision unite,” said Kristian Teär, CEO of Bang & Olufsen.

Born from the vision of the master craftsmen at the Bang & Olufsen Atelier, the Beolab 90 Titan Edition transcends conventional audio design. A fusion of technical brilliance and sculptural elegance, this exclusive edition exemplifies the brand’s mastery of transforming sound engineering into a work of art. The Titan Edition is a new interpretation of Beolab 90, stripped of its acoustic veil to reveal its structural essence. A tribute to pure sound and industrial beauty. Yes, Beolab 90 is a speaker that commands attention with its form.

Bang & Olufsen Beolab 90 Titan Edition: aluminum case weighing 65 kilograms

At the heart of the Beolab 90 Titan Edition’s design is a bespoke 65kg aluminium cabinet, hand-blasted with fine particles of volcanic rock to create a raw yet elegant structure. While the speaker’s visible structural core appears raw, the polished base plates add an elegant edge to the Titan Edition, creating the illusion of the speaker floating, lending an architectural touch to the design.

Upon closer inspection, Atelier’s craftsmen have imbued the Titan Edition with exquisite details that transform it into a masterpiece of aluminum artistry. Every detail—from the precision mechanical fittings to the delicate aluminum rings surrounding each woofer—has been obsessively refined to emphasize the contrast between the matte and polished finishes.

The faceplate on the top of the speaker is crafted from a single block of solid aluminum, requiring 12 hours of precision milling to create each piece. And the fine grooves surrounding each speaker are milled to radiate as sound ripples, creating a visual echo of sound waves, with the speaker’s top cover meticulously machined to mimic the light of a lighthouse. Even the fasteners are uniquely designed, with the front buttons featuring holes that allow light to filter through, adding visual interest to the illuminated speaker—subtle details that enhance the speaker’s unique character.

The laser-engraved details pay tribute to Bang & Olufsen’s centenary and the legacy of the original Beolab 90. Each fastener features a commemorative engraving, and discreet inscriptions around the speaker highlight the groundbreaking acoustic innovations that defined the original model – a quiet nod to its enduring impact on high-end audio.

Bang & Olufsen Beolab 90 Titan Edition: Based on the 2015 model

Even after its original launch in 2015, Beolab 90 remains the pinnacle of Bang & Olufsen acoustic innovation – the flagship loudspeaker that combines unique industrial craftsmanship with advanced directivity and DSP technology. Each sculptural tower houses 18 handcrafted drivers powered by a bespoke amplification and processing architecture that gives the speaker its exceptional headroom and control.

The result is a speaker with incredibly accurate sweet-spot imaging for solitary listening or a full 360-degree soundfield for social listening, delivering the transparency and power expected of the highest levels of audio performance.

Many of these groundbreaking technologies have since become the foundation of Bang & Olufsen’s acoustic philosophy. Beolab 90 served as a technological incubator, from which innovations like advanced room compensation and directional control have filtered down to a wide range of products, from the Beolab 50 and Beolab 28 speakers to the Beosound Theatre soundbar and wireless Beosound Balance. The same pursuit of precision, control, and clarity that defined the speaker’s flagship now inspires the engineering philosophy of the flagship Beoplay H100 headphones and the latest wireless Beo Grace in-ear headphones. Through an artful miniaturization of sound, the company has concentrated the acoustic mastery of Beolab 90 into a portable form that adapts the character of Bang & Olufsen’s high-end speakers to the intimacy of personal listening.

Bang & Olufsen Beolab 90 Titan Edition: the first in a series of five masterpieces

The Beolab 90 Titan Edition marks the beginning of a remarkable journey. This model is the first in a series of five exclusive creations handcrafted by the Bang & Olufsen Atelier to celebrate the brand’s centenary. Produced in extremely limited numbers, this edition is a cultivated expression of acoustic and aesthetic excellence. Each set comes with a certificate of authenticity, making it a collector’s item. Four more editions will be revealed in the coming months, each offering a distinct interpretation of the Beolab 90, designed for collectors and enthusiasts alike.

These five editions form a curated collection celebrating Bang & Olufsen’s 100-year heritage. A pinnacle of innovation, craftsmanship, and timeless design.
