WatchOS 9 publicly arrives just a few days after the announcement of the new Apple Watch watches , although it will not be necessary to have this recent model to be able to take advantage of its new features, since the update is compatible from the Series 4 version onwards . Below we review some of its main novelties:

Apple WatchOS 9 comes hand in hand with iOS 16

WatchOS 9 adds some functions for the entire community that until now were thought to be exclusive to Series 8 watches , such as the Battery saving mode that makes it possible to disable features such as the always-on screen mode or exercise detection to extend the battery life. hours of daily use.

Likewise, at the health level, it includes a new atrial fibrillation monitoring mode that has been designed with the help of the American Heart Association, while better medication monitoring now makes it possible to receive notifications and scan prescriptions to warn of risks in the event of any incompatibility between the consumption of different drugs.

As if that wasn’t enough, the sleep quality measurement mode now makes it possible to keep track of the different stages of sleep through an optimized machine learning technology, in addition to more functions in the Training App that takes care of users when running, preventing possible injuries and improving the movement technique.

To use watchOS 9 you must have an iPhone compatible with iOS 16 (have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi activated on the phone and watch as well as more than 50% remaining battery). The process is done through the Apple Watch App on the mobile (General / Software Update) with any of the following Apple Watch watches:

  • Apple Watch Series 4
  • Apple Watch Series 5
  • Apple Watch SE
  • Apple Watch Series 6
  • Apple Watch Series 7
