Huawei unveils a watch with headphones stored inside

Apparently, the engineers thought through everything to the smallest detail: the headphones are universal, and they added full integration with them to the watch

Huawei introduced the Watch Buds smart watch, the main feature of which was the headphones stored in the case. The design is such that the screen opens to access the headphones (as in laptops) – inside there are recesses for attaching the headphones (on the top) and charging connectors (on the bottom).

Apparently, the main obstacle for Chinese engineers was the size limitation – TWS headphones were made as compact as possible (according to official statements, they are 50% smaller than “regular” models). The manufacturer also had to install the components as tightly as possible: 90% of the headphone case is occupied by various parts, while each weighs 4 grams. This idea worked, the thickness of the watch does not exceed 14.99 mm. At the same time, the round AMOLED display received a diagonal of 1.43 inches (with a resolution of 466 × 466 pixels).

Huawei reports that the earplugs are universal: the system itself understands which earpiece is inserted into which ear, and automatically adjusts the left and right channels. Also, the headphones can be inserted into the watch in any direction – they will be charged in all orientations.

410 mAh watch battery – Huawei Watch Buds should last three days under typical usage scenarios, or 7 days with power saving mode enabled. With headphones, you can listen to music continuously for 4 hours or talk for 2.5 hours (with noise reduction turned off), each has a 30 mAh battery.

Otherwise, Watch Buds turned out to be a typical Huawei smartwatch with support for all standard health tracking options, HarmonyOS 3 firmware and more. The only thing is that integration with headphones was built into the system, which manifests itself in an additional widget on the dials, in viewing their charge level and the like.

In China, Huawei Watch Buds are priced at $429.
