Garmin unveiled two wearables at IFA 2022: Venu Sq 2, priced at $249.99, a new addition to its line of affordable GPS smartwatches; as well as an updated children’s watch Vivofit Jr. 3 for $89.99, made in the style of the Black Panther from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Changes Venu Sq 2 compared to the previous version of the device are more of a cosmetic nature: in particular, the diagonal of the OLED screen has grown from 1.3 to 1.4 inches. Another new addition is the Health Snapshot feature, a two-minute collection of key health metrics such as heart rate, heart rate variability, blood oxygen levels, respiration, and stress levels. But, perhaps most importantly, the manufacturer has almost doubled the battery life of the device from 6 to 11 days.

Like the original smartwatch, Venu Sq 2 received a music version with a drive that holds up to 500 songs, and again it is $50 more expensive than the original. Both versions of the device have risen in price by $ 50 – presumably, Garmin also decided to adjust prices due to inflation. The smartwatch comes with 25 pre-installed navigation and sports apps, including strength and cardio, yoga, HIIT and Pilates. Users can also create their own programs by choosing from 1600 exercises; access to Garmin Coach plans.

The system tracks various indicators of the body, including stress levels, sleep monitoring, as well as registration of women’s monthly cycles and pregnancy. Garmin Pay payment system and smart notifications are supported, there is access to the Garmin Connect IQ app store. The device is available in dark grey, white and green for $249.99 for the base version and $249.9 for the Music Edition.

Special Edition Garmin Vivofit Jr. 3 is almost identical to the original except for the design in the spirit of Marvel’s Black Panther. There are plenty of fun apps for kids, as well as features that parents will appreciate: the ability to assign children chores in exchange for virtual currency, which they can later exchange for some gifts. The cost of the device is $89.99, and it is available in a limited edition only on the manufacturer’s website.
