Optoma UHZ50: New 4K projector with color viewing

As TVs grow in size, projector manufacturers are making their models more versatile. They have already implemented a refresh rate higher than that of TVs, and now they combine all the newfangled features. For example, Optoma has released a projector that can no longer be categorized as a cinema or gaming machine.

The new product was named Optoma UHZ50. It can display 4K images at 60Hz and Full HD at 240Hz with 17 and 4ms latency, respectively. The projector also supports HDR10 and HLG, 100% Rec.709 and DCI-P3 for SDR and HDR video.

Equipped with a so-called dual-channel laser phosphor light source with dual wavelength lasers, it delivers 3,000 ANSI-lumens of light output and, according to the manufacturer, has a contrast ratio of 2,500,000: 1.

According to representatives of the company, this gives it the opportunity to create bright images with diagonals from 34 to 300 inches, the user – to watch any content even in full light in the house, and not only with partial dimming.

At the same time, the developers emphasized that the new product does not need a special screen, because it has the function of correcting the image to the color of the illuminated surface.

The projector comes with a wireless USB adapter, with which, using a special application, the device can be connected to computers and smartphones and watch everything that is displayed on their screen.

At the same time, the creators did not save much even in terms of optics, leaving from the original multimedia platform both 1.3x zoom and the possibility of optical lens shift by 10% of the image height.

In the US, the Optoma UHZ50 is already available for about $ 2,800.
