Sony has released a teaser of a new cinema camera, which will be presented on September 12. From the published image it follows that this will be a Sony Burano model – a professional CineAlta camera. Foreign media reports that this will be a very high-end device and likely with a full-frame sensor.
Burano is a small island in the Northern Venetian Lagoon, near Venice, famous for its colorful houses. Perhaps the name hides a hint of some proximity to the Sony Venice series.
The new Sony Burano movie camera will have a compact form factor, the source reports. There will be support for recording video in 4.3K , as well as in 4K 120 fps . It is also specified that the camera will have a slot for CFexpress memory cards for recording video with a high bitrate.
There are no official details about the movie camera yet. Only images that partially reveal the design of the body, which in fact resembles both the line of Sony FX and CineAlta cinema cameras (for example, Sony Venice 2).
There is a possibility that the model will be an intermediate option between the Sony FX9 and Sony Vinece 2, both in terms of capabilities and price. Perhaps in the near future the source will publish more details about the upcoming new product.
