During yesterday’s presentation, Sigma introduced a 10-18mm wide-angle zoom lens , rather than a 70-200mm F2.8 DG DN OS | Sports , as many experts suggested and promised by some news sites, including one well known to everyone. Telephoto – in development, it will be released for full-frame L-Mount and Sony FE mirrorless cameras in December 2023. Prices have not yet been announced.

It’s good that Sigma, in the very name of the lens model, reveals almost all of its characteristics, even its main purpose – for shooting sports competitions and other dynamic performances. The developers say that the telephoto will perfectly complement the 14-24 and 24-70 mm Art zoom series, all with F2.8 aperture.

A special feature is the highly sensitive HLA autofocus drive, which is very important for shooting sports and other dynamics. An image stabilizer is also important for a telephoto camera – the updated OS2 system will work in this lens, despite the fact that the name contains the letters OS, without the two. The lens will be designed for plein air use.

We know of an optical design of 20 elements in 15 groups, including 6 fluorite FLD elements, 2 ultra-low dispersion elements and 3 aspherical elements. Aperture – F2.8–22, filter thread diameter 77 mm. Dimensions – 91 x 205 mm, weight – 1345 g, for Sony E 10 g lighter.
