Nikon has developed a new generation of high-tech camera, the Nikon Z6 Mark III, which is expected to be announced in April 2024. The first image (albeit not in high quality) of the future new product has already been published. Today, the source revealed additional details about the camera.

New – Nikon Z6 Mark III will not be inferior in its characteristics to the manufacturer’s flagship SLR cameras. The source compares the camera with the Nikon D6 model. At one time, this camera was the most advanced among Nikon DSLR models. It had increased strength and expanded reporting capabilities.

The Nikon Z6 Mark III camera, as follows from the image published by the source, will have a slightly larger body than the second generation model. Technically and in terms of its capabilities, the model will be located between the Nikon Z6 Mark II and Nikon Z8. The ergonomics of the body itself, the source reports, will be improved compared to the current model Nikon Z6 Mark II.

A comparison of the body of the future new product and the previously released Nikon Z8 camera.

In the case of the Nikon Z6 Mark III, the source clarifies that the camera will have a 24.5 megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor. At the same time, the matrix will work in conjunction with two proprietary processors of the company: EXPEED 7, which will provide an additional increase in performance (the Nikon Z6 II had two EXPEED 6 processors).

The available sensor range will be ISO 100–64,000, while the hybrid autofocus system will receive 310 points across the entire field of the frame. In terms of functionality, autofocus will be comparable to the capabilities of the flagship Nikon Z9.

The company decided to pay special attention to the capabilities of shooting video with the new camera. It is reported that the Nikon Z6 Mark III will record 6K 30fps or 4K 120fps directly to the memory card in N-Log and HLG profiles. Apparently, there will be no support for N-RAW in these modes. Increasing the resolution became possible with the installation of two new generation processors.

It is reported that the Nikon Z6 Mark III camera will receive an advanced cooling system. Its installation, again, is necessary, since the operation of two processors at once will be accompanied by heat generation. The Canon EOS R5 faced a similar problem – the camera could record 8K RAW video, but due to overheating, this mode turned out to be virtually useless.

It was previously reported that the new generation Sony A7 V camera could receive a new full-frame BSI CMOS sensor with an ultra-high resolution of 44 megapixels. Information on this matrix was published back in April – it contains information about the capabilities of the new sensor, which, according to the source, corresponds to the functionality of the future camera – Sony A7 V.

The new matrix in question is equipped with a high-speed interface with 16 lanes, which was developed by Sony Semiconductors. Thus, it will provide readout approximately 2 times faster than the 61MP sensor on the Sony a7R V camera and the 26MP sensor on the Sony a6700 camera, both of which are limited to 8 lanes.
