Leica Camera AG has introduced the Leica Noctilux – M 50 mm F 0.95 ASPH limited edition ” Titan” edition , the most expensive new 50 mm prime lens available today.

Since the release of the first Noctilux-M in 1966, the Leica Noctilux-M has become a legendary lens. Since then, each subsequent Noctilux has captured the imagination and hearts of photographers with its impressive technical advances and exceptional aperture capabilities.

Following in the footsteps of Leica’s previous limited edition Titan editions, the Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95 ASPH is now available. The “Titan” name also draws heavily on the use of titanium in the body, which Leica says gives the lens an “elegant appearance . ” This makes it the “ideal complement” to all of Leica’s previously released titanium-finished cameras, such as the $20,000 Leica MA “Titan” film camera that was introduced as a limited edition last year.

Leica Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95 ASPH “Titan” ($16,995)

The new Noctilux “Titan” is indeed very elegant. The manufacturer positions it as a “work of art” [of course, for such and such money!] and, as in the case of other objects of art, the supply is limited . ” The special series of lenses will be released in an edition of only 100 copies.

As for the filling, this is the same serial Leica Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95 ASPH, which is available in black and silver and is also sold very expensively – for ~$13,000. The new special edition “Titan” beats them out with an impressive price tag of nearly $17,000.

Production versions of Leica Noctilux-M 50mm F0.95 ASPH.: Black ($12,995) and Silver ($13,095)

The Noctilux-M 50mm F0.95 ASPH “Titan” will be available exclusively at Leica Stores and is the most expensive new stills lens before special teleoptics are taken into account.

The closest comparable lens for comparison is perhaps the Nikon NIKKOR Z 58mm F0.95 S Noct, which offers a very similar focal length and the same extremely fast aperture. It, like the Noctilux-M, has manual focus and will cost photographers almost $8,000.

Any Leica fan will tell you that there is something special about using the German brand’s legendary cameras and lenses. In the case of the Leica Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95 “Titan” lens, experiencing this special feeling will cost a lot of money.
