Kenko Tokina unveils ultra compact Pieni II camera

Pieni II
Pieni II

Kenko Tokina has unveiled Pieni II , an ultra-compact toy camera with a 1.3MP sensor in a cute retro style, especially for CP+ 2023 .

The design of the Pieni II is reminiscent of some Leica or Fujifilm cameras, but much smaller of course. Inside the device is a tiny 1/10-inch 1.3-megapixel CMOS sensor that allows you to take photos (at 1280 x 1024), video (720p) and record sound. The selected shooting mode is indicated by a small LED in the viewfinder.

Measuring just 5.1 cm wide, 3.6 cm high and 1.8 cm thick, the camera is arguably one of the most compact on the market. Moreover, it is surprisingly light – only 18 grams.

The manufacturer writes that the device “produces images reminiscent of watercolors and oil paintings” , that is – calling it by its proper name – the image quality is close to the quality that the phone camera produced 20 years ago :).

It is noteworthy that Pieni II is devoid of the now familiar rear screen and has only a tiny optical viewfinder. But the idea behind using it is to give images a certain degree of unpredictability, as opposed to the pixel-perfect rendering of modern cameras and phones that we’re used to. Data is written to a microSD card, charging is carried out via a microUSB port.

Note that the camera is promoted by the manufacturer as a fashionable and decorative accessory, it can be worn as a pendant or, for example, attached as a fridge magnet.
