Fujifilm GFX100 II Medium Format Camera Specifications Released

Fujifilm, according to a source, is preparing to announce a new medium format camera – Fujifilm GFX100 II. Partially, its characteristics have already been disclosed, although there is no official confirmation from the manufacturer yet. It is reported that the announcement of the camera will take place on September 12, 2023.

The camera will receive a 102 megapixel BSI CMOS matrix (43.8 × 32.9 mm), and will also provide support for 8K video recording. In addition, the possibility of shooting video in 4K 60 fps with support for 10-bit color 4:2:2 is announced. Another important feature is the ability to record video in a professional ProRes codec on a memory card. All this will provide many opportunities for recording high-quality video on the Fujifilm GFX100 II. The first generation model also had some advanced features for movie shooting.

The source elaborates that the camera will be “compatible with an external cooling fan.” Perhaps this means that third parties will release this unit specifically for the Fujifilm GFX100 II. Similar external cooling systems were produced by Tilta for Canon EOS R5/R6 cameras and other devices. They help to work without overheating when recording video.

The electronic viewfinder will receive the highest resolution of 9.4 million dots. Will the Fujifilm GFX100 II camera get an updated display and will it be swivel (it was tilted in the previous model). It is likely that the camera will also have the ability to connect external Atomos Ninja recorder monitors for even better video recording.

The announcement of the camera will take place on September 12, 2023. The Fujifilm X-Summit event is scheduled for this date . The source said that the following new items could be presented:

Fujifilm X-T5s : This model is an updated version of the Fujifilm X-T5 with an improved 26 megapixel sensor similar to the one used in the X-H2S.

Fujifilm X-Pro4 : A new generation of the popular X-Pro line is expected, which combines classic design with cutting-edge features and capabilities. Most likely the camera will be equipped with a 26-megapixel sensor.

Fujifilm X-E5 : A compact camera that will replace the current  X-E4

Fujifilm X-T40 : An updated version of the popular X-T30 camera may be introduced with new features and improved performance. There is no information on this camera yet, but the sensor will most likely also be 26-megapixels.

Successor to the Fujifilm X100V  (X200, X100VI, X100 or other version): Fujifilm may introduce a new model in the X100 series that will retain its attractive design and high image quality. The camera will be premium and not cheap, like the whole series.
