AstrHori has released a new macro lens for full-frame cameras: AstriHori 120mm F/2.8 2x Macro with a two-fold increase (2:1) and a price of $369. The manufacturer promises high build quality and excellent optical characteristics of the new macro lens, which will be released for bayonet mounts: Sony E, Canon EF/RF, L-mount and Nikon Z. The lens also has a stylish minimalist design. The optics are also suitable for portrait photography.

Promotional materials for the new AstrHori 120mm F/2.8 2x Macro lens state that it can be used for shooting jewelry, insects, portraits and more.

The lens has a focus ring on the outside, it rotates 120 degrees. The optics also have a 72mm front filter thread, depth of field markers, a special aperture ring, and unique holes for additional screws built into the body itself.

The AstrHori 120mm F/2.8 2x Macro has a 13-bladed aperture, which AsrtHori says should provide “balanced sharpness and attractive bokeh . ”

The optical design of the lens consists of 14 elements in nine groups. Thanks to it, the optics can provide 2x macro magnification, which is a good indicator considering the low cost of the lens.

The length of the new macro lens is 165 millimeters. The new product weighs 930 grams and is equipped with an exclusively manual focusing system, which is the standard for professional macro optics. When installed on different cameras, the lens looks like this:

Thus, AstrHori 120mm F/2.8 2x Macro is intended for studio photographers or for shooting nature, scenarios of which allow you to set the frame without haste. Although catching an ant (an example of a frame is demonstrated by the manufacturer in promotional materials) in motion will be quite difficult.

The new AstrHori 120mm F/2.8 2x Macro lens is available for virtually all full-frame mirrorless systems and beyond. It comes in Sony E, Canon EF, Canon RF, L-Mount (Panasonic, Leica, Sigma, and DJI), and Nikon Z mounts.
