From now on, users of the latest beta versions of WhatsApp for iOS and Android can experiment with sending photos by choosing their resolution. This feature will definitely be appreciated by fans of the messenger, as it allows you to significantly improve the quality of the image when it is sent, while maintaining the dimensions. As you know, WhatsApp strongly compresses any pictures to save traffic and space on the user’s device, which is why the photos lose a lot of quality.
The developers of the messenger have been testing this function for some time, as the WABetaInfo profile resource reported earlier. Now the choice of the quality of the transmitted image is available in the beta version of WhatsApp 23.11.0.76 for iOS and beta version of WhatsApp 2.23.12.13 for Android.
This is not the original quality of the images and still has a slight amount of compression applied. Still the photos look better
As you can see in the screenshot, when you select a photo to send, a new button appears, clicking on which allows you to select the HD quality of the image (resolution 4096 × 2692 pixels). It is worth noting that this is not the original quality of the image, it still has some compression applied, but the picture in this case looks much better than before. You have to select this option every time you send a photo because the default quality is Standard.
When the user selects HD quality and the photo is posted in the chat, a corresponding mark will appear on it. It allows you to inform the recipient that the photo has a high resolution. This function has some limitations: you cannot apply it to videos and pictures when updating the status. In the near future, HD quality for photos will become available to even more users.
