Here’s a glimpse of the design of the latest Huawei smartphone from the new generation.

The Huawei Mate 70 series of flagship smartphones is anticipated to be launched at the end of this month, with increasing information surfacing online. A recent leak from the insider Digital Chat Station has disclosed the display and camera specifications for the base model of the smartphone. According to data shared on the social media platform Weibo, the Mate 70 is set to feature significant upgrades in key areas while still retaining some attributes from its predecessor.

The Mate 70 is expected to build upon the Mate 60 in several aspects, with its standout feature being a 50-megapixel 1/1.5-inch sensor equipped with a variable aperture. This innovation will enable users to adjust the light entering the sensor, enhancing their creative control over the depth of field and overall image quality. Additionally, the device is likely to include a 12-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom, contributing to a comprehensive triple-camera system. Regarding the display, the Mate 70 may adopt a more conventional flat 6.69-inch screen rather than a curved one, potentially allowing for a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The Mate 70 could be a follow-up to the Mate 60 in many ways, but its main feature will be a 50-megapixel 1/1.5-inch sensor with variable aperture.

Renders of the Mate 70 have surfaced on Weibo, showcasing a design that closely resembles that of the Mate 50. Based on these images, the upcoming model will feature a prominent round camera module positioned centrally, with sensors and a flash arranged symmetrically within it.

The Mate 70 series is expected to feature wireless charging capabilities along with dust and water resistance. However, one aspect that has not been mentioned is the inclusion of 3D facial recognition, which Huawei is likely reserving for its premium models.
