Tecno has adequately prepared for the annual technology exhibition MWC 2023, which is taking place these days in Barcelona. The little-known but fast-growing manufacturer has already shown the budget Spark 10 Pro selfie phone with the recognizable iPhone design, the updated 2023 Megabook S1 ultrabook based on the 13th generation Intel Core processor, and even the unique technology of changing the color of the smartphone case without the use of LEDs.

Now, at the end, there was also the announcement of the brand’s first folding device – Phantom V Fold. The most interesting thing is that for its debut in this form factor, the novelty looks surprisingly competitive.

The Phantom V Fold runs on the latest MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ mobile platform. The chip was announced in the summer of 2022, manufactured using a 4-nanometer process technology and offers an eight-core ARMv9 architecture with the most powerful ARM Cortex-X2 core at a clock frequency of 3.2 GHz at the head. The amount of RAM to match the flagships is 12 GB. Built-in storage to choose from, 256 GB or 512 GB. Externally, the smartphone looks like an already classic book with a 6.42-inch AMOLED display (Full HD +) on the outside. When unfolded, a 7.85-inch tablet-like panel appears, Quad HD + resolution, the matrix is ​​\u200b\u200balso AMOLED. In both cases, LTPO technology with an adaptive frequency of 10-120 Hz.

On the back, the Phantom V Fold stands out with the brand’s signature triple-camera design, which catches the eye with a huge round module, as in the Phantom X2 line of camera phones. The array includes a 50-megapixel main sensor (f/1.85), a 50-megapixel telephoto lens, and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor. The front camera is both outside and inside. The battery capacity is at the level of analogues and is 5000 mAh. Declared support for fast charging power of 45 watts.

The Tecno Phantom V Fold will go on sale in the second quarter of 2023 (exact date not announced) and will first appear in India. The color options are black and cream with a gold-coloured frame, the back panel surface is textured and imitates leather with different patterns depending on the model.

Pricing starts at $1,090 for the 256GB configuration, with the 512GB variant priced at $1,210 . The brand will announce the global availability later.
