Apple will change the telephoto camera in the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro Max. There was optics with an equivalent focal length of 77 mm, and will be in the region of 120-144 mm. This means that the optical zoom relative to the main camera will be 5× or 6×.
For the sake of such a focal length, the type of camera will change: if in 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max the camera matrix is parallel to the display matrix, then in 15 Pro Max it will be placed perpendicularly. This will make it possible to clear space for a greatly enlarged lens block, while maintaining an acceptable matrix size. The image will be projected onto the matrix using a special prism.

Periscope will be exclusive to the big 15 Pro Max. At the same time, apparently, there will also be four cameras: wide, ultra-wide, telephoto and front-facing.
Interestingly, due to the design of the periscope, the camera block on the 15 Pro Max will most likely stick out less than on the 15 Pro, where the lenses will be placed in the old way – on top of the camera matrix.
The presentation of the iPhone 15 line should take place in September.
