Apparently, OnePlus employees decided to seriously address the issue of cooling modern smartphones. The fact is that today, February 27, the company has already presented the concept of the OnePlus 11 smartphone with a built-in liquid cooling system, but the problem is that this interesting idea will not help gamers in any way, because the manufacturer does not plan to send LSS for commercial use yet, and the temperature drop is not that noticeable. Accordingly, in order to satisfy the needs of the audience of gamers who want to get an effective solution for cooling their smartphone right now, the company has created a very unusual accessory.
The external device responsible for cooling the smartphone, OnePlus officially introduced at the Mobile World Congress 2023 event is a rather interesting liquid cooling system for a smartphone, which is represented by an external portable accessory with a power of 45 watts. Accordingly, the owner of this accessory, if necessary, can fix a special panel on the back of his gadget and play video games without worrying that the device will suddenly overheat or start to reset the processor frequency in order to lower the temperature.
The accessory consists, relatively speaking, of two components. The first of them is a special fastener in the form of a clip, which is attached to the back of the device by squeezing the side panels of the gadget. This is the same mechanism used in selfie sticks, car mounts and more. From this clip comes a cable that connects the first component of the system to the second – a large installation the size of a computer power supply, inside which the liquid is cooled and circulated to the fastener on the back of the smartphone and back. It turns out a standard LSS, as in a PC, only in a slightly different format.
OnePlus has claimed that this setup is able to bring down the temperature of the smartphone by up to 20 C in high load mode, which sounds quite plausible. The fact is that the journalists who visited the exhibition checked the installation, after which they stated that after 10 seconds of operation of the device, the back panel of the smartphone became literally icy. This means that the liquid cooling system really works well and copes with the task, but what is the point of mobile gaming if the user is literally tied to the place with a cable from this LSS? And OnePlus hasn’t said anything about pricing or a release date for the setup, so it might not come out very soon.
