Reavon UBR-X110: Digital Transport for UHD Blu-ray Playback

Reavon UBR-X110
Reavon UBR-X110

For the first time, the junior model of the R eavon UBR-X110 UHD Blu-ray video player was reported  more than a year ago, but, apparently, something went wrong, and the novelty is only now on sale. This is a good opportunity to talk about it in more detail.

The R eavon UBR-X110 optical disc player will replace the Reavon UBR-X100 model in the French company’s range, which we talked about in detail. Like its predecessor, the Reavon UBR-X110 is a digital transport, that is, the player does not have an analog part, and all switching, both video and audio, is digital. Like the previous model, the novelty is based on the MediaTek MTK8581 chipset with a quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor and a Mali-T860 MP2 graphics core.

Switching focuses on the HDMI interface – there are two ports, one of which only outputs audio. In addition, there are optical and coaxial digital outputs, two USB-A ports – version 3.0 is located on the back wall, and version 2.0 on the front panel. Integration into a computer network is only wired via a gigabit Ethernet RJ45 port. The new model has not found wireless adapters – neither Wi-Fi nor Bluetooth is here.

In addition to 4K UHD Blu-ray discs, the Reavon UBR-X110 plays regular Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray and DVD. Also in its arsenal is the ability to play audio CDs, and not only CDs, but also high-definition SACDs (stereo, multi-channel, and hybrid) with HDMI output. But that’s not all – the novelty is able to play multimedia files in FLAC, AIFF, DFF, DSF, JPG, TIFF, MKV, M2TS formats from DLNA network servers and external USB drives. At the same time, the Reavon UBR-X110 player supports HDR10 and Dolby Vision high dynamic range video and is capable of scaling standard and Full HD video to 4K parameters.

The Reavon UBR-X110 player is dressed in a rigid metal case that protects the disc transport from unwanted vibrations. The 1.6mm thick chassis is reinforced at the bottom with a 3mm metal plate.
