Danish brand Tangent has introduced two brand new products to its range of affordable hi-fi components – the compact DAC II preamp/headphone amplifier and the advanced Ampster TV II audio upgrade receiver .

The Tangent DAC II External DAC with Headphone Amplifier features Saber’s premium 24-bit DAC chip and is billed as “the solution for anyone who has a traditional amplifier but now needs a cost-effective, compact preamp.” The switching arsenal of the new product includes a USB-B port for connecting a computer, coaxial and two optical digital inputs, as well as optical digital, balanced and unbalanced analog outputs.

There is also a built-in Bluetooth adapter with aptX support, which allows you to stream music from your smartphone in high quality. To connect headphones, the front panel of the device has 3.5 mm mini-jack and 6.3 mm jack connectors.

The equally compact Tangent Ampster TV II is marketed as “the ideal amplifier for enhancing the sound of your TV.” Equipped with Bluetooth 5.0 and an HDMI input with ARC support , Ampster TV II is designed to replace your TV’s audio system – just add a couple of speakers.

The amplifier power is 50 W for each of the two channels. With aptX HD codec support, you can use the Ampster TV II to wirelessly stream music from your compatible mobile device. There is also an output to an active subwoofer, the addition of which to the system will provide a reliable foundation for movie soundtracks and the scale of music sound.

Both new items are already on sale. In the UK, the Tangent DAC II costs £250 and the Ampster TV II costs £200 .
