Musical Fidelity launches new M6X 250.4/2 Home Theater Power Amplifier

Musical Fidelity M6X 250.4/2
Musical Fidelity M6X 250.4/2

The British company Musical Fidelity continues to expand its M6X line of multi-channel power amplifiers aimed at equipping home cinemas with the introduction of the M 6 X 250.4/2 four-channel model . As you can understand from the name, the amp can be used as a four-channel power amplifier, or, if necessary, pairs of channels can be combined to work in bridge mode, getting a two-channel power amplifier.

ImageThe new Musical Fidelity M 6 x 250.4/2 power amplifier is the perfect complement to today’s 5.1 or 7.1 channel AV receivers to serve a Dolby Atmos / DTS:X surround sound system with in-ceiling speakers in 5.1.4, 7.1.2 configuration , or 7.1.4. All amplification channels of the Musical Fidelity M6x 250.4/2 are identical, discrete and operate in class A/B. Each pair of channels is served by its own power supply with a powerful toroidal power transformer. Large-area die-cast cooling radiators eliminate the need for active cooling.

ImageTo connect to a pre-amplifier or AV receiver / AV processor, not only unbalanced inputs on RCA connectors are provided, but also balanced on XLR. High-quality screw acoustic terminals allow connection not only of speaker cables cut with “blades” or “bananas”, but also not cut, and of a very large cross section.

In a bridged two-channel power amplifier configuration, the Musical Fidelity M6x 250.4/2 is capable of delivering 250 watts into a load with a nominal impedance of 4 ohms or 180 watts into 8 ohms. In a 4-channel amplifier configuration, the M6X 250.4/2 delivers 175 watts into 4 ohms and 90 watts into 8 ohms for each of the four channels. Moreover, the device develops this power when all amplification channels are loaded.

ImageThe new Musical Fidelity M 6 x 250.4/2 power amplifier is available in black and silver finishes. The M6X 250.4/2 has already gone on sale in Europe for a suggested retail price of 1,599 euros .
