The McIntosh McAire Music Center features AirPlay wireless audio technology for communication with iPod / iPhone, as well as computers running iTunes. In addition, the McIntosh McAire can operate on wired (via Ethernet) or wireless Wi-Fi networks and is equipped with a USB input for connecting Apple devices, excluding the iPad. The McIntosh McAire has a compact design that matches traditional McIntosh components. At the same time, McAire is equipped with built-in three-way acoustics, consisting of pairs of 4 “woofers, 2” midrange and 20 mm tweeters. The bass speakers are mounted inside the body of the device and are loaded on a hole brought out to the bottom panel. The midrange speakers are also loaded on bass reflexes, the outlets of which are brought out to the rear panel of the system. The loudspeaker systems have protective grilles along the edges of the front panel, which are fixed with magnetic fasteners. The black lacquer finish, combined with the silver elements, gives the device a sophisticated yet recognizable appearance.
The McIntosh McAire front panel has a classic design for the firm’s products with large dial gauges, a pair of large volume control knobs and a signal source selector. Miniature LEDs are used to indicate the selected input. The system is equipped with a fully functional remote control that can be used to control the iTunes player. The most convenient way to control McAire, however, will of course be a dedicated iPod / iPhone application.
