Goldmund Telos 8800: The ultimate all-in-one power amplifier

The Swiss brand Goldmund , a well-known manufacturer of high-end audio equipment, founded in 1978 and based in Geneva, has introduced the flagship Goldmund Telos 8800 monoblock power amplifier . The manufacturer claims it is “one of the most powerful amplifiers in the world, setting a new performance standard and delivering unrivaled power and groundbreaking innovations that take the listening experience to the next level. ”

The new Telos 8800 monoblock has been upgraded both aesthetically and technically. Without visible screws, with a distinctive stone-textured side panels and a seamless cabinet construction, it highlights the technological prowess of this extraordinary amplifier.

The Goldmund Telos 8800 monoblock is equipped with a significantly larger output stage cooling radiator. To dissipate the heat generated by the power supply of the amplifier, an additional 17 cm wide radiator is placed inside the case, the side walls of which act as heatsinks for the output stages. The Telos 8800 has an all-analog circuit for maximum thermal safety and protection against short circuits. If any problems are detected, the monoblock is instantly disabled to protect both the speakers and the amplifier itself.

The output stage of the Telos 8800 all-in-one is class A/B, delivering an impressive 1.4kW of power when driven into an 8 ohm load with less than 1% harmonic distortion. According to the manufacturer, Goldmund’s design goal was to create an amplifier capable of driving very low impedance acoustics with low distortion. Numerous improvements have been made, including an increase in the output power of the transistor stage. Thanks to the use of four pairs of output transistors in each arm (16 transistors in total per block), it was possible to achieve a significantly higher return compared to the previous Goldmund T5500 NG model. In addition, the power supply uses a larger capacitor bank – four massive capacitors with a capacity of 15,000 microfarads each.

Goldmund is already accepting orders for the production of a Telos 8800 monoblock , which will cost 320 thousand Swiss francs , which at the current exchange rate approximately corresponds to $365.000.
