FLOW ONE: New integrated amplifier from Hungary

FLOW ONE
FLOW ONE

The young Hungarian brand FLOW by Allegro , based in Budapest, began like many audio manufacturers by distributing products from other companies. In this role, the company (then called Agria Audio) has been operating on the market since 1998, representing brands such as Chario, Rega and WBT. FLOW by Allegro has been around as a brand since 2017, when the carefully designed line of amplifiers took its current, final form after much research, experimentation and testing.

FLOW ONE integrated amplifier

The integrated amplifier FLOW ONE heads the brand’s lineup. The amplifier features a hand-polished Brazilian walnut front panel with wavy lines. Allegro Audio emphasizes: “By creating the FLOW family of amplifiers, we intended to evoke in the listener’s soul that magical phenomenon of flow that high-quality music can create.” As an option, you can order a glossy panel or a black piano lacquer finish.

The only detail that enlivens the facade of the FLOW ONE amplifier is the round information display, which displays the volume level and the active input. You can turn it off if you wish. Interestingly, there is no volume control knob, no buttons or input selector knob – these operations are performed only from the remote control. The input selector and volume control (63 steps of 1 dB) are implemented through a relay, which, as is known, affects the sound quality in the most favorable way.

The switching arsenal of the FLOW ONE amplifier is completely asymmetrical. There are four analog line inputs on high-quality gold-plated RCA connectors. To connect speakers, two pairs of WBT NextGen acoustic terminals are provided. All internal wiring is made with monocrystalline UP-OCC cable.

The output stages of the FLOW ONE amplifier are made of discrete elements and operate in class A/B, providing a power of 80 W when operating into a load with a nominal resistance of 8 Ohms and 140 W for a load of 4 Ohms.
