bFly-Audio PolarX: The sound-adjustable resonance absorber

bFly-Audio PolarX

Anyone who has ever experimented with the placement of their HiFi components knows what impact different device feet and bases can have on the sound. A specialist in this area is the Bavarian company bFly-Audio, which offers numerous products for the optimal decoupling and coupling of components and speakers. Now there is something new, namely the so-called bFly Audio PolarX resonance absorbers – which, thanks to sophisticated technology, should even enable sensitive sound tuning.

bFly-audio PolarX: Interchangeable conductors for sound tuning

Basically, the PolarX are based on a similar principle to the other resonance absorbers from bFly-Audio. They consist of several layers of different materials, which, due to their different resonance frequencies, are intended to reduce unwanted vibrations as broadly as possible.

Two things are new with the bFly Audio PolarX feet: They are now height adjustable – and the customer also has the choice between different “conductors”: This refers to the top layer of the device feet, which has direct contact with the component or speaker. The conductor is screwed into the body of the foot using a precisely fitting fine thread. Since it comes with a spike holder, it can also be used under spikes.

The PolarX feet come with two conductors ex works: one made of aluminum and one made of the special plastic POM. For an additional charge of 50 euros per device base, conductors made of copper can also be ordered, which – as bFly-Audio says – results in a “earthier” and even more natural sound. The POM version is said to sound softer and more analog. If you like, you can of course “mix it up” by using just one or two POM conductors, for example, depending on the sound effect and preference.

Availability and prices

The PolarX absorbers are now available – as usual with bFly-Audio for devices and speakers of different weight classes. The following prices and weights are per piece – and with an aluminum conductor (the copper version costs 50 euros more, an additional POM conductor is always included free of charge):

  • bFly-Audio PolarX-0 (max. 1 kilogram): 139 euros
  • bFly-Audio PolarX-1 (max. 4 kilograms): 149 euros
  • bFly-Audio PolarX-2 (max. 10 kilograms): 169 euros
  • bFly-Audio PolarX-3 (max. 17 kilograms): 199 euros
