Shokz has introduced new wireless headphones Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 , which are so-called “open ear” headphones. For the first time in this model, bone conduction technology is combined with a classic dynamic emitter. The manufacturer calls this innovation Shokz DualPitch Technology .

Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 Wireless Headphones

Shokz Holding Limited specializes in the development and production of headphones for outdoor and sports use. Reliable solutions that are not affected by wind and weather, using proprietary technologies. Shokz headphones have been designed as “open ear headphones” and have so far relied primarily on Shokz bone conduction technology, which transmits sound directly through the user’s cheekbones using a special transducer.

Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 Wireless Headphones

With the new Shokz OpenRun Pro 2, Shokz is offering for the first time a product that combines the aforementioned bone conduction technology with a classic dynamic driver, achieving what the company claims is impressive sound quality.

Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 Wireless Headphones

The so-called Shokz bone conduction technology, as mentioned above, is based on the Shokz bone conduction sensor, which rests directly on the user’s cheekbone when wearing the headphones and thus transmits the sound into the ear. Headphones designed in this way can be made particularly robust and waterproof, and are also significantly lighter than traditional designs. Moreover, such headphones can even be completely waterproof. Sound transmission based on Shokz Bone Conduction Technology works quite well, especially in the high and mid frequencies, but is weak in bass reproduction, so in this aspect, compromises have had to be made for now.

Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 Wireless Headphones

With the new Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 headphones, there will be no such problems, since the lack of bone conduction technology in the mid and especially in the lower frequency range is now compensated by an additional dynamic driver. The new Shokz DualPitch Technology, in which the bone conduction driver ensures the reproduction of high frequencies, and the 18 x 11 mm low-frequency driver, which was already used in the Shokz OpenFit Air headphones, guarantees powerful bass.

The new product also uses Shokz DirectPitch technology, based on DSP-based signal processing, which precisely focuses the sound so that it optimally enters the ear canal. According to the manufacturer, the result is an incomparable sound quality that is both clear and powerful.

Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 Wireless Headphones

The new Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 wireless headphones support Bluetooth version 5.3 with A2DP, AVRCP and HFP profiles, but unfortunately do not use high-resolution lossless audio codecs. Thanks to multi-point Bluetooth pairing, you can simultaneously connect to two music sources.

In addition, the new Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 is equipped with microphones so that you can communicate at any time. They are designed in such a way that ambient noise, such as wind, does not negatively affect speech intelligibility. In addition, a modern artificial intelligence algorithm ensures that up to 96.5 percent of background noise is filtered.

Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 Wireless Headphones

With the help of the Shokz mobile gadget application, you can customize the sound of the headphones to your liking using the equalizer. Of course, you can also control the headphones directly using the multifunctional button and volume control.

The new Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 wireless headphones feature thin and lightweight nickel-titanium alloy earbuds covered in super-soft silicone. The headphones are IP55 certified, making them resistant to dust, sweat, and splashes of water. The built-in battery provides up to twelve hours of music playback, and is charged via a USB-C port covered with a waterproof cap. With support for fast charging, five minutes of charging is enough to be ready for 2.5 hours of use.

The new Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 wireless headphones are now available in Europe with a suggested retail price of €199 . The manufacturer offers a choice not only between black and orange finishes, but also between mini and standard sizes.
