JBL Tune 660NC: Lightweight ANC headphones with great sound

jbl tune 660nc
jbl tune 660nc

There are many types of headphones, although we believe that they are all the same. Not at all! And a sample are these  JBL that we want to talk about today. Basically, we can first divide them into wireless or wired and then headband or true wireless. But even within the headband we have several subtypes, such as circumaural or supraaural.

The  JBL 660NC are a very interesting model, with a relatively reasonable price, but they are far from perfect. What do they lack or what do they have in excess? We are going to discover it in this article that we have prepared for you today. The truth is that they are very well balanced, but they are not the favorites of most people. And we are going to tell you why.

Design of the JBL Tune 660NC

These JBL 660NC are  wireless on-ear headphones . And precisely because of the point of being supraaural is what makes many people discard them. These are the headphones that sit above the ear, but do not completely cover the ear. It’s not better or worse, it’s just a matter of taste. We invite you to try both options to determine which one you feel more comfortable with.

We can also mention that it is available in  four colors: blue, black, white or pink , so you can choose the ones you like best. One detail that we really like about the headphones is that they are  foldable , that is, we can partially reduce their size when we are not using them, so that it is much more comfortable to transport if we want to carry them in our backpack to go to class or to work or even in the suitcase when we travel.

It comes with several  buttons , so that we can control our music from the headphones themselves without having to take the mobile out of our pocket at any time. We can play/pause, go forward or backward a song, raise or lower the volume… Keep in mind that they are also compatible with voice assistants (such as Siri, Google Assistant or Alexa), so you can control them from these buttons, with your voice or From the phone.

Their main material is  plastic , they are not premium, but thanks to this they are also lighter (they weigh  173 grams ).

With JBL Pure Bass sound

Going into talking about purely sound issues, we can mention that these JBL Tune 660NC headphones incorporate  JBL Pure Bass technology . It is a type of technology owned by the firm that offers a very precise and high-quality sound, with deep basses and good power.

The earphone frequency is  20 – 20000 Hz and the impedance is  32 Ohm . In addition, its sound power is 100 dB . Its driver is  32 mm  and they already incorporate  active noise cancellation . With this, we can isolate outside noise and enjoy music or calls with better quality.

Precisely for calls, we have an  integrated microphone , with a sensitivity of  -24 dB . We can quickly mute it if we need to cut the sound at any time. This is very useful, for example, for work calls, when we are in a meeting, we don’t have to talk, it doesn’t make sense to have the microphone active. It is better to mute it, since in addition to increasing concentration it also prevents any noise at home from sneaking into your meeting. And with this model you can do it.

Connecting with Google Fast Pair and 3.5 mm jack

One detail that we really liked about this model is that they have a very grateful connectivity. It is true that what stands out the most is its  Bluetooth 5.0 wireless connectivity , very stable and with a good range, as well as being quite efficient and saving battery life (but we’ll talk about that later). The best thing is that they also incorporate Google’s Fast Pair technology  , thanks to which, if we connect it with an Android device, we will have an immediate connection, to link them in a couple of seconds and without you having to do anything.

But if we don’t want to use them via Bluetooth, we also have  a 3.5 mm jack , to continue using them. It also incorporates a  USB-C port . Both cables are included in the starter pack.

Battery: Up to 55 hours

The battery that incorporates this model is brutal. It has a capacity of  610 mAh , which translates into up to  55 hours  of autonomy if we use it without noise cancellation or in  44 hours  if we activate it. To save battery, we also have to be somewhat careful with the volume, since a higher volume level has been shown to offer worse autonomy.

The charging time is  120 minutes , but in case we are in a hurry, 5 minutes of charging will be enough to have 2 extra hours of autonomy. This is achieved thanks to its  built-in fast charging system.

PROS:

  • Available in various colors
  • interesting price
  • With active noise cancellation
  • Can be used via Bluetooth or wired
  • Very good autonomy

CONS:

  • Feels a bit to plastic
