Huawei presented an updated version of its flagship line of wireless headphones FreeBuds – attractive FreeBuds 5 . The new model features high-resolution audio, extended battery life, and a sleek design designed for “those looking for an ultra-comfortable headphone.”
Huawei says the new design goes far beyond mere aesthetics, claiming that the “futuristic teardrop shape” is the result of “tens of thousands of ergonomic simulations and hundreds of optimizations” made to ensure that the lines of the headphones follow the natural contours of the human ear.
In terms of aesthetics, the FreeBuds 5 are available in three different color options: Ceramic White, Silver Frost, or Coral Orange. The charging case has a matte finish, a textured surface and a convenient opening mechanism.
This new shape should help improve active noise cancellation (ANC) and comfort. The FreeBuds 5 support hybrid noise cancellation with three microphones that adapts to the shape of the human ear, while the ANC8 intelligent dynamic system allows the headphones to detect ambient noise and automatically adjust the noise cancellation in real time. The three-microphone system of the headphones works with a “deep neural network (DNN)” algorithm that helps eliminate unwanted noise during voice calls.
FreeBuds 5 headphones have a dynamic radiator and are equipped with Bass Turbo technology, which, according to Huawei, allows you to reproduce low-frequency sounds with a frequency of even 16 Hz. Thanks to dual magnetic circuits, the declared frequency range of FreeBuds 5 exceeds the previous generation by 50%. A triple adaptive real-time equalizer improves sound quality by “avoiding differences caused by the shape of the external ear canal, the way it is worn, and the volume level.” This is said to contribute to more consistent high-quality sound, as does the headphone’s support for Bluetooth L2HC and LDAC codecs for high-resolution audio.
FreeBuds 5 are compatible with any iOS or Android smartphone thanks to a simple Bluetooth pairing mechanism. In addition, there is the AI Life program, which allows you to customize the control and user experience.
The new wireless headphones from Huawei can also work for up to 30 hours on a full battery charge. Charging for five minutes provides up to two hours of listening, which is twice as fast as was possible with the fourth generation.
