The French company Elipson has updated its popular spherical speaker to the W35+ version. The firm claims that compared to the Elipson W35 that debuted in 2019, the model with the + sign has improved sound and connectivity.
As for the sound, this version has been equipped with updated silk tweeters, which, according to Elipson, improved the reproduction of high frequencies. The 6.5″ mid/bass drivers and the built-in 350W Class D amplifier remain unchanged. The case is 350 mm in diameter, like the original W35. With unevenness of ± 3 dB, the Elipson W35+ wins back the range of 47 Hz – 22 kHz.
From the outside, you can see that the W35 + added an RJ45 network connector (it is used for streaming), as well as digital (optical S / PDIF) and analog (3.5 mm AUX mini-jack) inputs. Via Bluetooth with aptX HD, the novelty works out audio resolution up to 24 bits, and via a wired network or Wi-Fi it plays CD-quality audio on its own or in multi-room mode.
This capability of the W35+ is provided by the Elipson Connect app. Other compatible Elipson models such as Music Center Connect HD, Connect Wi-Fi Receiver and Connect Streaming Amplifier can work as part of a “home audio grouping”. In addition, streaming platforms such as Qobuz, Spotify, Tidal, Deezer and Internet radio are also available through the column app. The Elipson W35+ has a dark matte gray finish and is available to buy now.
In Europe, the Elipson W35+ costs 900 euros apiece, and for another 150 you can buy a branded tripod stand made of silver oak or walnut.
