Playstation 5 Pro could be a reality by 2024

Playstation 5 Pro could be a reality by 2024

The world of consoles had the launch of intermediate versions during the last generation, so for a long time many people have wondered if the same thing will happen this time. New specialized media reports indicate that Sony would be preparing a Playstation 5 Pro for the end of 2024.

So far there was no information about possible updates for the current Playstation 5 and even some previous speculation remarked that Sony was not planning this possibility for the next few years. But from Inside Gaming they assure that their sources have assured them the opposite, starting with a new version of the current model with a removable disk drive.

What to expect from a possible Playstation 5 Pro

Playstation 5 Pro could only be announced at the end of 2024

Although during the era of PS4 and Xbox One the need to update such outdated hardware led companies to launch slightly higher models, many consider that the new consoles are much better prepared and do not need it at the moment, even more so when the lack of components and the effects of the pandemic has led to a lack of stock in its early years that caused the new generation of consoles to take time to establish itself (and even rise in price in Europe and other regions ) .

But if this information is true, a new PlayStation 5 with a removable drive would be in the company’s plans to launch later this year as a first step. The intention of the model would be to remove the current PlayStation 5 from the market to reduce production and shipping costs, but it is worth noting that it would not change its design or name to “Pro” or “Slim”.

Subsequently, the sources of said medium remark that this “only the beginning of the new hardware that will reach PlayStation users of this generation”, and although there is no clear data on what improvements would be in development for Playstation 5 Pro, a recently patent posted by PlayStation lead architect Mark Cerny suggests that Sony Interactive Entertainment is looking for new ways to “speed up” ray tracing performance in games.

The truth is that the current generation still has a long way to go, since the announcement of Playstation 6 is not expected until at least 2028 . In addition, from Sony they expect console sales records for fiscal year 2023 (from April to March 2024) with around 30 million units shipped, thus doubling the presence of PS5’s in the current generation market.
