Mafia: The Old Country gameplay trailer released

On May 8, Hangar 13 released the first gameplay trailer for Mafia: The Old Country, offering an atmospheric look at its early 20th-century Sicilian setting. The game follows Enzo Favara, a young man at the beginning of his criminal journey, and introduces a mix of stealth, action, and period-authentic mechanics that reflect the rugged reality of the era.

The trailer highlights a newly designed stealth system. Players can lurk in the shadows, sneak up behind unsuspecting enemies, and take them out silently with knives — which can also be thrown with deadly precision. Distraction mechanics like coin tossing are also in play, allowing for strategic movement through guarded areas. Of course, if subtlety fails, shootouts erupt — but don’t expect pinpoint precision. True to the weaponry of the early 1900s, firearms lack modern accuracy, meaning even close-range shots can miss, adding an immersive layer of realism.

Two high-intensity chase sequences were also revealed. In one, Enzo navigates the narrow streets of Sicily behind the wheel of a vintage automobile, swerving past obstacles in a thrilling escape. In another, he charges on horseback, pursuing a cart and exchanging gunfire with enemies in a dramatic, cinematic moment. The trailer concludes with a tense knife duel, hinting that melee combat — and especially cold weapons — may play a significant role in the story. Whether this scene reflects a deeper combat system or is a scripted sequence remains to be seen.

Visually, the game impresses with detailed period settings, dynamic lighting, and stunning environmental design. From cobblestone streets to rugged countryside, Mafia: The Old Country captures the gritty beauty of its historical setting.

In addition to the trailer, Hangar 13 has also announced the release date and pricing. Mafia: The Old Country launches August 8, 2025, for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The standard edition is priced at $50 — a notable move in an era where $70–$80 has become the norm for AAA titles. A Deluxe Edition will also be available for fans seeking extra content.

With compelling gameplay, authentic atmosphere, and a surprisingly consumer-friendly price, Mafia: The Old Country is shaping up to be a must-watch release this summer.
